The NYC DOE is committed to maintaining schools that are free from harassment, intimidation, discrimination and/or bullying based on actual or perceived race, color, citizenship/immigration status, religion, creed, national origin, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, or weight. Chancellor’s Regulation A-832 forbids this behavior and we do not tolerate it.

Respect For All

I am concerned that my child may be the target of bullying behavior by another student. What should I do?

Report the incident to the Respect for All (RFA) liaison(s) and/or school administration or any school employee.
Parents should request the incident number (also known as Online Occurrence Reporting System (OORS) number) from school administration for follow up.
The school will investigate and must advise the parents of the complaining student of the outcome of the investigation, consistent with laws regarding student records privacy.
Where appropriate, the complaining student may be referred for support services.
Students who have been found to have engaged in bullying or harassment will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action and interventions and supports pursuant to the Department of Education’s Discipline Code.

If a student or parent feels uncomfortable making a report to a school staff member, they may submit an anonymous complaint by:

Parents, guardians and students can report incidents of bullying that happen:

in school
anywhere online (“cyberbullying”) including, but not limited to, websites and social media via phone, email or other digital channels
during school hours
before or after school
while traveling on school buses
while on school property
while off school property when the behavior disrupts or endangers (or would foreseeably disrupt or endanger) the school community
at school-sponsored events

For Staff

All staff who witness student–to-student:

discrimination
harassment
intimidation and/or bullying
have knowledge or information that a student may have been the victim of such behavior by another student and/or
receive notice that a student may have been the victim of such behavior by another student

are required to orally report the alleged act to the RFA liaison or to the principal/designee within one school day and to file a written report no later than two school days after making the oral report.
