Brief History

The establishment of Norzagaray Municipal High School was originally conceived by the former local officials of Norzagaray, led by then Hon. Municipal Mayor Eufemio T. Correa in June 1968.  The local government purchased the buildings and lot from spouses Mr. and Mrs. Celso L. Leuterio of the neighboring town of Angat.

The school was then given a School Principal in the person of Mr. Aurelio Joaquin, a competent and a disciplinarian teacher from San Miguel High School, through the strong recommendation of former Hon. Councilor Enrique Cruz.

The next in line among the Heads of the School was Mr. Honesto Famatigan, a Science Teacher.  Thinking that he could better provide for his family if he would shift to another occupation, he decided to transfer to DSWD.  Mrs. Norma C. Torres, an English Teacher, later succeeded him.

Right after Mrs. Torres’ brief incumbency as Officer in Charge of the School and through the recommendation of the late Hon. Municipal Mayor Armando C. Enriquez, a full-pledged School Principal replaced her.  It was then Mr. Cayetano B. Carambas, a native of Angat, Bulacan who managed the school for eight years. 

After Mr. Carambas’ appointment as School Principal, two more teachers were assigned as administrators of the school:  Mr.  Lamberto Pascual and Mr. Ed Cruz.

Dr. Teresita B. Bernabe took over the administration of the school as OIC in 1991.  She held the said position until 1994 before finally being appointed as full-pledged School Principal, a position she held until June 12, 2009.  And it was in year 2003 when the school became a fiscal autonomous.

Dr. Lisa C. Cruz, a true-blooded Norzagaray folk, was appointed School Principal on June 15, 2009 – October 1, 2014. 

Another principal came, in the person of Mrs. Zenaida S. Quizon from Bustos, Bulacan who assumed the position of  Principal IV from  October 2, 2014 – June 9, 2016 .  

At June 10, 2016, Dr. Lisa C. Cruz, Principal IV came back in Norzagaray National High School to continue her plans to reach the Vision and Mission of DepEd and to give her unlimited support and guidance to the students, parents, teachers and all staff in this school.  She served in NNHS until her retirement on October 11, 2021

Dr. Ceanceno M. Espiritu, Jr. from Tigbe, Norzagaray  Principal III designated as School Head on October 11, 2021.

With the enduring support and abiding dedication of all the individuals who make up the school system, the school expanded and leaped forward.  From the least number of teachers in 1968, Norzagaray National High School now boasts of 94 JHS permanent teaching personnel ,13 JHS permanent non-teaching personnel, 26 SHS permanent teaching personnel and 3 SHS non –teaching personnel.

From its undersized population in 1968, the approximate number of JHS students of Norzagaray National High School this SY 2023-2024 now totals 2,873 and 1,018 SHS students.
