On AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote, "Most of all, 30 Trips illustrates how the Dead kept circling back to their folk and blues beginnings no matter who supplemented the core quintet of Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart. While the four or five main keyboardists brought their own signatures (particularly Pigpen, whose rough-hewn growl provided a gritty counterpart to the band's spacy early explorations), come 1971, the year after the twin masterpieces of Workingman's Dead and American Beauty, the Dead maintained a groove more psychedelic in spirit than sound.... If you take all 30 trips, the Dead's journey feels long and sweet and unlike anything else in rock."[5]

AJ, Jackie, Min, and I made our way down to Tainan right after our field trip to the ICDF with our global health class on a Friday. It took us around 4 hours to get to the Tainan bus stop from the Taipei Main Station bus stop. After the long drive, we were starving, so we went to the night market in Tainan!

This weekend we had a makeup day class for the long break that we would have the following weekend. Many of our classes for CLD (Chinese Language Division) had a scavenger hunt field day around Datong District, one of the first areas to be known as Taipei City. The area had many traditional medicine markets, tea shops, and temples. It was really cool to see this side of Taipei.

Your first venture will be the drive along the Sea to Sky highway. You will spend your first two nights around this area. This road will be your gateway to Squamish and Garibaldi Provincial Park, eventually ending in the resort town of Whistler.

Hi! I am the photographer and creator of www.inafarawayland.com. I come from Poland, but I've been living, travelling and working around the globe since I turned 18. A few years ago, during one of my trips to Scotland, I bought my first DSLR and my adventure with photography began. When I am not stuck to my computer editing photos, you can find me hiking somewhere in the mountains.

Hi Manouk. Sorry about your cancelled trip last year and fingers crossed it will happen this year! As for your question. I do have a 4 day mini road trip to Vancouver Island and then a two week road trip from Vancouver to Calgary which you should combine, that would give you a total of 3 weeks with a couple of days spare if you wanted to get back to Vancouver instead. You ca find them in the road trips category of my canadian rockies guide. Please let me know if that helps and if you have more questions!

Our weekends are like mini-vacations here, Terri, especially now that we have our camper. I think after three weeks, I have gotten used to the altitude. The sickness does sneak up, you are right! The air is very dry and the temps have been perfect for us, around 80F during the day. It is actually surprising how much green some areas sport. More about that in the future. Happy blog hopping! ?

Trying to enjoy it as much as possible. Every day, I look out the window at the mountains and the sunshine, and I check the temperature online, which has been around 28C. And then, I look at my computer again, planning to quit work early. And then, it is 6pm, the clouds our back and it is getting chilly. Time to water all the plants, bird baths and garden, and think about dinner. But, the weekends have been perfect! ? I hope you get to visit New Mexico one day. It is similar to Arizona, but appears to be more varied and cultural.

Oh, I could not climb those ladders! Somehow as I have become older, I have developed a fear of heights, and especially ladders. It might started because of a ladder accident as a teen and another incident of losing my footing climbing down a cliff face around the same age. Oh well.

Free activities and splurges that are worth it. The coolest stuff for a staycation in town and road trips for less than a tank of gas from St. Louis. Kids Out And About has tons of ideas for family travel, with places to explore, learn, and have fun!

My family and I (age group of 16 to 50) are making a four day stopover at Geneva on our trip to Europe this October. Since we're trying to do the trip on a shoestring, we've found a friend's shack to bunk at while we're in the city. I had a few specific questions about things we could do while traveling from Geneva itself. 1. We come in from Paris on the 7th, and will not have a full day to make a long day trip, so what would be advisable short trips to make if we left Geneva around noon? Or things we could do within the city itself? 2. For the other three days (when we have plenty time, but will have to travel from Geneva itself), would day trips to places like Zermatt, Luzern and Interlaken be too ambitious? We will have a Eurorail Pass for all four of us, so any amount of travel should be okay. Plus, we're keen hikers and have done some moderately tough hiking in the Himalayas, so wouldn't mind scenic hikes around any of these places. 3. We were wondering which one (or if any) of the Panoramic Trains would be most worthwhile in October and given our travel restrictions. I've heard most good things about the Bernina Express, but have also heard that it is at its scenic best only in the winters, and since October is a shoulder season, does it at all make sense to shell out the extra money or is it just a tourist trap? That's a lot of questions, but if someone can just give me leads on where I could find more information on these lines, that would be lovely :)

I would suggest a full day Gruyeres tour by Viator. This is the description (we really enjoyed it last year!). "Set off and discover traditional produce while taking in Switzerland's landscapes on a full day combined coach and train trip from Geneva. Descend the hills to Montreux, overlooking Lake Geneva and the towering Alps. In between, you'll savor chocolate, cheese and wine tastings to round out your full day trip. We will first visit the chocolate factory of Broc (Nestl - Cailler) where you can taste his famous chocolate. Will then continue our gastronomic discovery in a cheese-dairy where you will sample some local manufactured cheese. Then you will have some free time in the village of Gruyeres to relax or visit his castle overhanging the entire Gruyere region. Next we will catch the Panoramic Golden Express, this train passes above the Lake Leman to enjoy the panoramic view of the beautiful countryside around the lake. After that, we will take the bus again to cover the Lavaux vineyards road, classified one of the most beautiful place of this world by the Unesco, to reach the village of Epaisse."

You might also consider a Castles Boat Cruise (Swiss Boat). There are self-guided walking tousr of Geneva. Pick up audio guides at Tourism office Rue du Mont Blanc 18. 10 CHF p/p.

If I remember correctly, the trip from Geneva to Luzern is about 3-hours each way, which may make it a little ambitious to do in a day. You can get up really early and come back late and just sleep on the train. You can do day trips to Bern, Zurich, or Montreaux. Bern is about a 90-minute train ride from Geneva. It's a lovely town to wander around on foot. You can enjoy the medieval architecture, fountains, narrow streets, and clock towers. Frommer's has a nice walking tour of Bern here: Zurich is a little over 2-hours away on train. I did the two two Frommer's walking tours when I was there for a day and really enjoyed it: 1)

2) I also highly recommend visiting Montreaux and the Chateau de Chillon: It's an impressive castle located right on the lake, with the alps in the background. You can reach Montreaux by train (about 45 min from Geneva) or by lake steamer. If you're in Geneva on a Saturday, you can cross the border to Ferney-Voltaire for the Saturday market.

Portland offers a variety of choices for getting around without a car. Many Portlanders already live in neighborhoods where walking and biking are great options for short trips. And combining walking, biking and e-scooting with public transit is great for longer trips.

Island Packers Cruises also offer trips that get close to the Channel Islands without going ashore. These trip are designed for you to view the abundant wildlife found in the waters of the Channel Islands National Park and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Seasonally, in summer and winter we offer Whale Watching trips.

If you take your own vehicle for the road trip, make sure to include scenic drives around the North Rim, South Rim, and East Portal Road for inspiring views around the canyon, Gunnison River, and Crawford State Park. 17dc91bb1f
