DASH ROBOTS
How to begin with Dash robots:
Allow students to come up with names for the robots. Once a name has been selected, write this name on a sticker and attach it to the robot. To note this name in the app, connect to the 'Blockly' app. Once connected to the app, turn on the robot and touch the robot icon on the tablet. Once you have selected your robot, the next screen will allow you to personalize it - give it a name and change its appearance. Click here to review the instructions.
Watch the video below titled 'Getting Started with the Dash Robot" (teachers only - not students). Have students work in groups of 2 - provide them with one robot and one tablet. Ask them to open the 'Go' app and pair the robot with the tablet. Once done, work as a group to explore the features of the Dash robot using the Go app.
Go to: https://www.makewonder.com/ and make an account (teachers only). You will see the navigation options below. Select Curriculum, and begin at Level A as shown below. Each grade would benefit from beginning at the level below their recommended one.
Select Curriculum, and begin at Level C as shown below. Note: Some of the lessons are for use with the "Dot" robot which has been discontinued. These lessons can be modified to accommodate the "Dash" robot.
Prior to starting with the physical robots, you might consider trying the virtual Dash robot to familiarize students with the Blockly app. To try virtual Dash, click HERE and select 'Play with Dash and Dot', then 'Blockly', and then 'Puzzles'.
