Can you see yourself as an astronaut? Today, or in 10 years? 20 years? In this activity you will draw a visionary self-portrait.
1. Find a printed photo yourself that is well-suited to cutting out your head (and that you don’t mind cutting up for this activity!). If you don’t have one, take one and print it out.
2. Use a glue stick or double-sided tape to attach your photo to a piece of black construction paper.
3. Use white, orange, or blue crayon to draw a space suit and helmet around your face/head.
4. Use and bright colored crayons to add in stars, planets, comets, etc.
5. Add in some gold and silver star stickers.
Downlaod NASA's self app and virtually see yourself in an astronaut exploring the galaxy! Click below to download the apps.
Astronauts on the International Space Station, or ISS, often spend six to 12 months in space, orbiting Earth. It can be a little cramped staying inside the space station all that time. Astronauts still need to do their everyday living, such as working, eating, relaxing and exercising, but with fewer resources than they have on Earth.
Imagine you and your family are astronauts on the space station right now. You can only use the resources available to you. How would you adapt to the challenges and still keep doing important routines, like exercising, learning and making time for fun?
