Preventive Maintenance: A Practical Approach in Protecting Our Built Heritage
Heritage sites of the country are constantly exposed to hazards and to various agents of decay and deterioration that make these assets vulnerable to damage and even loss. One way to safeguard our built heritage is through preventive maintenance. This practical approach in conservation ensures that a site is always in a state that can withstand natural and man-made hazards and agents of decay. With proper planning and implementation, a well-maintained heritage site means that it can remain relevant to current and future generations, and as a result, its value and significance are retained.

Importance of Well-Maintained Public Parks
The recent pandemic highlighted the need for open spaces and public parks for the community members' well-being. Along with its environmental, aesthetic, and recreational benefits, parks are only as good as they are functional. And this is where good park maintenance plays a significant role. As the most internationally-known national park in the Philippines, it has been a big responsibility to keep Rizal Park sustainable, functional, well-kept, and world-class. In this walking tour, we'll showcase the importance of proper and performance-based park maintenance.

Having framed the narrative of the Rizal Park Luneta as a space where Filipinos want to breathe the fresh air of freedom and where they exercise their freedoms and participation in building the Nation. It can also be a model of how to see the historic and cultural importance of parks everywhere as a place where people feel kalayaan and aspire for kaginhawahan. We will particularly look at the case of Plaza Sta. Ines in Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.

Exploring the Green Parks of New Clark City
New Clark City is an ideal place for business in the Philippines. Aside from its strategic location in the heart of Luzon, home to over 50 million people, Clark ensures business continuity by offering a safer and more disaster-resilient location for both public and private sectors.
Its natural topography makes it a lot more disaster resilient than the current seat of government and center of economy, Metro Manila. It is protected from strong typhoons by the surrounding mountain ranges.
It is far from an active fault line unlike Manila, which actually sits in one. Clark is also situated at an average of 100 meter above sea level, making it resilient to flooding. Lastly, Clark has a lot of green open spaces- about 60% of the entire area will be kept green and open, making it a haven in the post-pandemic world.
The site tour in New Clark City will feature the River Park which is 1.4-km green corridor with bikeways, jogging paths, amphitheaters, and spots for wellness activities like tai chi and yoga. This River Park will be extended to around 9-km long throughout the development.
