Homework

Science: Light Science Fair Experiment - just like the sound experiment, the students now have the opportunity to do the same process but for Light. Due to our break, and getting sick, I told the students about this project later than anticipated! Therefore I am not making it mandatory, but I do highly encourage the kids to give it a shot, even if it is not as in-depth as their last. It’ll be due on May 18th!

History: In a few weeks, on May 18th, the students will have an opportunity for a small Historical Figure Presentation. We will be having our very own "Night at the Museum" experience where parents, families, and other classes will be able to come in and interact with our museum exhibitions. The students job will be to choose a Historical Figure from Early American History (it can be someone we have learned of or someone we haven't) and come up with a short blurb/presentation that tells us about the person, just like an exhibition in a museum would have a plague with information about the exhibit. The students' presentation should be set up as if they are the person, so they are speaking about themselves, “I am Sacagawea and I was born in…”. The students will need to practice and memorize their presentation as well as dress up like their Historical Figure. The day of, during our History hour, the students will be spread out around our class frozen like statues. Parents, families, and other classes will be able to come in and walk around looking at the different "exhibits". When someone taps on the students shoulder, they will 'unfreeze' and say their part for their audience, and once they have said their part they 'freeze' again. It should be great fun! Please email me with the Historical Figure your student has chosen so I can ensure no one chooses the same person.

IEW: The students need to finish their KWO and story for our practice with writing a story from pictures. Most of the students completed the KWO in class and just have the story to write out.
