Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology

Gyorgy is a Hungarian-British chemical engineer who received his MEng from the Technical University of Budapest, and his PhD from the Technical University of Dortmund under the European Commission’s Marie Curie Actions. He worked at Hovione PharmaScience, Imperial College London, and he was an IAESTE Fellow at the University of Tokyo. Gyorgy was appointed a Lecturer in Chemical Engineering, and then as Visiting Academic at The University of Manchester. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Visiting Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He is currently at the Advanced Membranes & Porous Materials Center at KAUST since 2019. The research interests of Gyorgy focus on sustainable separations through a combination of polymer and materials science, and process engineering. He has published over 140 articles, edited, written and contributed to more than 10 books. He serves on several editorial boards including Frontiers in Chemical Engineering, ACS Applied Polymer Materials, and the Journal of Membrane Science. Gyorgy is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.

prof. Artur P. Terzyk

Physicochemistry of Carbon Materials Research Group

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń

Prof. dr hab. Artur Terzyk received his PhD (from N.Copernicus University in Torun, physical chemistry – adsorption calorimetry) in 1995. In the same year he received the Scholarship of Foundation for Polish Science, and in 2006 the Prime Minister of Poland Award for Habilitation. His habilitation was devoted to the study of adsorption from solution and physicochemistry of interfacial phenomena. Since 2012 he is a full professor for physical chemistry at N.Copernicus University in Torun. He is a member of scientific committee of international ISSHAC conference, the editorial board member of Materials and Coatings journal. He was the member of NCN so called „Permanent Team” for the evaluation of NCN projects achievements, the member of the team for the evaluation of Prime Minister Award and Minister of Science and Higher Education awards. In 2019 he received Scientist of the Future Award. He was also the member of the Scientific Committee of Carbon 2020 in Kyoto conference. He cooperates with scientists from Poland, Japan, USA, UK, and from many other countries, and he is present on Stanford top scientists list. In the focus of his research are modern carbon nanomaterials, molecular simulation, adsorption and wetting phenomena. Until now, he has more than 250 peer-reviewed journal publications, two books and many book chapters. His papers were cited (without self-citations) more than 4500 times, with H-index of 37.
