At the end of a scene check to see if any of the following happened:
Were you bit or scratched by a mammal, lizard, insect, or creature?
Did you drink dirty water or eat raw meat?
Did you breathe in any toxic fumes without proper protection?
Were you within reach of a creature or character with a contagious disease?
Did you sleep on the ground?
If any of these events happened, you must roll a (END)+(Survival) Test with a difficulty equal the number of listed events that occurred to a maximum of 5
If you fail the test, roll 1d20 and reference the table on pg. 193 of the (CRB) to see what disease you contracted.
Contracting a disease doesn't take effect until the next day.
When you start suffering the symptoms of the disease you gain 1 fatigue.
Suffering from a disease is considered a source of fatigue which is only removed once you are cured.
Once you start suffering from a disease you can attempt an (END)+(Survival) test with the difficulty equal to the diseases duration rating.
If you succeed, reduce the disease's duration rating by 1.
If this reduces the disease's duration rating to zero, you recover from the disease fully.
Ways to speed up recover:
Another character can assist your (END)+(Survival) test with an
(INT)+(Medicine) test.
Antibiotics reduce a disease's duration rating by one automatically at the end of the currant day.
(Can't take more than one dose of antibiotics per day)
Full day spent resting or a minimal physical activity reduces the difficult of (END)+(Survival) test by one, to a minimum of zero.
Strenuous activities can lead to you becoming tired much quicker.
Intense combat or similar strenuous activity moves you down one step the end of that scene
If you sleep for at least one hour, you move back up one step, but only to a maximum of tired.
If you want to become rested you want to sleep for a minimum of 6 hours.
If you sleep for 8 or more hours in a safe and secure location, you become well rested and add +2 to your HP maximum which lasts until your next step.
If you are weary or exhausted, sleep deprivation is a source of fatigue.
Sleeping does removal all points of fatigue so long as you have no ther sources of fatigue such as:
Dehydration
Starvation
Exposure to harsh climates
Contracting a disease
Extreme heat or cold make everyday activities more of a challenge and accelerate other issues.
Without proper clothing, shelter or a source of warmth, temperatures below
5^oC and can lead to a bad time.
You gain 1 fatigue after a number of consecutive hours equal to your rank in survival.
Without proper protection, temperatures below -18^oC inflict 1 fatigue after a number of minutes equal to your survival rating times 10.
Ex: If you had a survival rating of 3, you would gain 1 fatigue after 30 minutes in extreme cold weather.
Hot weather is defined as temperatures above 32^oC
You gain 1 fatigue after a number of consecutive hours equal to your rank in survival.
Shade or a similar sheltered environment can protect you from the heat.
Severe hot weather is defined as temperatures above 43^oC
Outside of shade or in a similar sheltered environment inflicts 1 fatigue after a number of minutes equal to your survival rating times by 10.
Exposure to any of these conditions is considered a source of fatigue.
Remove yourself from these conditions by finding shelter for at least one hour.
