Big Question: How to create art that tells a story about places that have personal, social, cultural or historical significance?  

In the first part of Unit 4 we will explore landscape art, interior design, and installation art to create deeper cultural connections between places, their stories, and your individuality and artistic style.   

In the first part of the Unit we will explore art from different perspectives and create written pieces that can become inspirational assets to create artwork. We will research how negative and positive space affects the mood/meaning/vibe of composition in landscape art.  We will deepen our skillset working on one-two perspective  preparatory  digital/hands-on sketches. We will  grasp the artistic process from anime  professionals  and practice digital  animated landscape drawing.    

During the second part of the unit we will explore how works of art can be designed and made to fulfill particular individual and community needs with mural.  We will explore the mural art created by Diego Rivera and local communities and individual artist from the Bay Area as part of  SFMOMA's mural project.  We will create movable murals in teams dedicated to the theme " The Wildes Dreams of our Ancestors".

• Complete series of sketches (Illustrations) reflecting your favorite places 

• Complete digital landscape piece 

• Effectively work in team to design art installation (moving mural)
