OUR STORY
2754 RCACC was formed on November 1st, 1963, affiliated with 5 Column, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, and began delivering the Army Cadet programme to the young men of the Downsview community under the direction of the officers of the Cadet Services of Canada, a component of the Canadian Army Non-Permanent Active Militia.
In 1965 the corps affiliated unit changed to 1 Toronto Service Battalion as the three separate armed services of Canada underwent unification into the Canadian Forces. In July 1975 the Canadian Government changed “Boys” to “Persons” in the relevant legislation allowing for the first time in the organizations history that girls would be officially able join the three Cadet training programmes.
The most significant change in the last decade came in 2002 when the cadet corps moved from the old Denison Armoury at Dufferin St and Wilson Ave to the new armoury at Sheppard Ave W and Allen Rd.
In addition to the mandatory training program, the cadet corps is currently pleased to be offering to the cadets optional programs such as an orienteering team and a competitive marksmanship team.
