PRESENTATIONS
Invited talks will be 45 minutes plus 15 minutes discussion. Contributed talks will be 20 plus 10 minutes. The programme is now available online at https://sites.google.com/view/26th-szklarska-poreba-workshop/programme. Please let us know if there are any questions or issues concerning the planning.
There will be a projector, a HDMI and a SVGA cable, and a USB-C to HDMI adapter. You can either connect your own laptop (please make sure to bring any additional adapters you might need) or use our laptop and give us your presentation on a memory stick or send it to us by email in PDF (!) format. If you are planning to use handouts, make sure to bring at least 15 copies with you as there are no printing facilities available on site!
APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AND LUGGAGE
Since the only options to reach the hut are via the open ski lift or by hiking, and since it can get cold and windy on the mountain, we recommend you to wear appropriate clothes. Furthermore, it is very impractical to bring anything but a backpack, whether you will be hiking or taking the ski lift. Even with the ski-lift, there is a short hike of a few hundred meters up to the hut. Conditions will be snowy and can be icy, so please take this into consideration. To get a better picture of what it looks like there, please check the livecams at the website of the hut: https://szrenica.pl/en/cameras/. It is very advisable to wear antislip spikes on your shoes.
Finally, the hut does not provide towels by default, so it is better to bring your own! If you can't bring a towel, you will have to ask them to give you one, pay extra, and the towels they give you are rather small.
SPORTING BREAK
There will be a sporting break from around 10:30am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. During the sporting break, many people take the opportunity to ski (skis and snowboards can be rented at the bottom of the mountain in Szklarska Poręba), hike, or just take a more leisurely walk.
COSTS
The conference fee will probably vary per person between 200 and 300 euro (yes, Szklarska Poręba is catching up with the rest of the EU in terms of prices). We aim to keep the costs as low as possible for people without institutional funding - please let us know if that applies to you. As the costs furthermore depend on the division of people over the rooms, we will calculate the precise costs per person at the workshop itself. At the workshop, you can pay the fee in cash (Złoty or Euro) or you can transfer it via PayPal or SEPA.
The conference fee includes accommodation and the workshop dinner on Saturday. The other meals and drinks can be bought in the hut by yourself. In the hut you can pay with cash in Złoty or by card. There is an ATM in the village next to the ski lift but there is typically limited time to buy a ski pass.
