Learn how a silent auction works
Think of a Silent Auction as a "slow-motion" auction where the bidding happens on paper or online instead of a fast-talking auctioneer standing on a stage.
A Silent Auction is a fun, competitive way to support our athletes! Instead of shouting out bids, you submit your "best offer" privately through our online forms.
The Digital Gallery: You browse the items on our Google Site (just like an online store). Each item has a Starting Bid (the lowest price we can accept).
Placing a Bid: When you see something you like, you click the "Place a Bid" button. This opens a Google Form where you enter your name and the amount you want to pay.
The Leaderboard: Because it’s "silent," no one is yelling prices, but you can see the Live Leaderboard on our site. This shows the current highest bid for every item, and some cases, the best bids.
The Outbid: If someone bids higher than you, you’ll see it on the Leaderboard! You can then go back and submit a new higher bid to take the lead again.
The "Striking" of the Gavel: At 12:00 PM on March 17th, we stop accepting bids. The person with the highest name on the list at that exact second wins the item!
No Pressure: You can bid from your couch, your office, or the dojo.
Fair Play: Everyone has until the final second on March 17th to participate.
Total Transparency: Even though it’s silent, the Leaderboard ensures everyone knows exactly what the "price to beat" is.
To keep things fair and help us reach our $5,000 goal, we use two simple rules:
Minimum Increments: Each new bid must be at least $5 higher than the current high bid.
Commitment: By submitting a bid, you are promising to purchase that item if you are the winner on March 17th.
