Traditional Scouting is a youth based program that promotes good citizenship, wholesome physical and mental development, and education and development in habits of observation, discipline, self-reliance, loyalty, useful life skills, strong values and self-confidence.
We have programs for young people ages 5 and up, broken up into age appropriate sections:
Each section has age appropriate Promise and Law to assist youth in learning by doing. We offer a progressive and stimulating program of varied activities based on the interests of the participants, largely in an outdoor setting in contact with nature.
Traditional Scouting is based on the Scout Movement founded by Lord Baden-Powell of Gilwell. In 1907, Lord Baden-Powell lead the first Scout camp on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, England. Lord Baden-Powell wrote a book Scouting for Boys which was published in 1908. The book outlines his methods and ideals to help develop young people into happy, healthy, useful citizens.
The BPSA in Ontario and in Canada is affiliated with other Baden-Powell Scouting Associations around the world.
