Dear Families,
As we approach the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) state testing period and the iReady diagnostic window, I wanted to take a moment to share important information about the upcoming assessments, offer a few tips to support your child, and emphasize the importance of attendance during this time.
CAASPP Testing Dates:
5th Grade Science: April 27–28
Grades 3–6 English Language Arts (ELA): May 4–7
Grades 3–6 Mathematics: May 11–14
This year, our school-wide theme is “Use the Force and Raise the Bar!” Our students have been in “training” all year long—building their skills, strengthening their thinking, and growing their confidence. These assessments are simply an opportunity for them to show what they know and how much they’ve grown. As students approach testing, we encourage them to use their “Jedi Force Powers”:
Focus Force → stay on task
Reread Force → go back to the text
Thinking Force → take their time
Perseverance Force → don’t give up
Confidence Force → believe in themselves
While the CAASPP assessments provide valuable insights into your child's academic abilities, it's essential to recognize that they do not capture the full spectrum of skills and traits that our students display daily. We see them demonstrate resiliency, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration in various ways beyond standardized tests. We know their abilities in soccer, dance, football, and art. This test does not represent your whole child; however we want them to be as successful as possible!
To help your child prepare for success, we encourage the following:
A good night’s sleep each evening to support focus and stamina
A healthy breakfast each morning to fuel their brain
A calm and positive start to the day, reminding them to take their time and do their best
Lastly, I cannot stress enough the importance of daily attendance during the testing period. Being present and on time each day ensures that your child has the opportunity to fully demonstrate their learning. If your child must be absent, please notify the school as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we will help our students “Use the Force and Raise the Bar!”
Join us May 8th at 12:00 for a special TK-Kinder Round-up!! Meet the teachers, learn about the programs, and ask questions! We can't wait to meet the new Owls joining the family!

I’m so excited to recognize Ms. Hernandez as our Teacher of the Year. She shows up every single day ready to give her all to her students, managing a large and diverse kindergarten class with so much care, patience, and skill. Ms. Hernandez truly believes that every child matters and belongs, and you can feel that the moment you walk into her classroom. She’s created a strong structure with both whole group and small group instruction, while still keeping high expectations and leading with heart. What stands out most is her willingness to keep learning and growing, always looking for ways to better support her students. We are so lucky to have her—congratulations, Ms. Hernandez!
I’m so excited to recognize Miss Maria as our Employee of the Year. As our lead custodian, she does so much more than keep our campus clean and safe—she shows up for our school in every way possible. You’ll find her at Literacy Night, STEAM Night, and our community dinners, jumping in wherever help is needed. She also gives her time to support our after-school play program, creating special experiences for our students. Miss Maria truly loves this campus and our kids, and it shows in everything she does. She goes above and beyond every single day, and we are so lucky to have her. Congratulations, Miss Maria!
