About Us

THE TEAM

Welcome! My name is Jan Sebastian Rosa Hernandez. I'm the main mechanic for the robotics team 2223-J. I study at University High school and the school I will be representing in this robotics competition. This is my first year in the robotics team and I'm really hoping to do my best when competing. Aside from having an interest in robotics I'm also part of the school's swim team, and a member of the school's rondalla music group. I am an avid gamer and music listener. I also try to squeeze in as much reading time as I possibly can.

I've had multiple ventures into robotics over the years. The first was at the the age of 12 when I participated in the IDEA-STEM summer camp at the institute of Puerto Rico. There I learned a few of the basics of robotics and programming. It wasn't much, but it still laid the groundwork for my interest in robotics to this day. After that, when I was 13, I participated in building a robot for the robotics team who represented Carolina and its "Los Duros" institution. Sadly I never got to compete with that robot, but it taught me about the difficulties of building a robot. Now in May 2016 I joined Jantony and Pablo to form the robotics team 2223-J, Which I am a part of today.

This will be my first time ever actually participating in a robotics competition and I really hope I can make a good enough impression even though it's my first time. I'm really looking forward to facing the competition and seeing what challenges lie in wait.

Hi, my name is Jantony Velázquez Gauthier and I am a member of team 2223J. I am a sophomore at University High School and this is my first year as a member of a robotics team. At school I am part of the swimming team and I also compete for the school when there is a chess tournament. Some of my other interests are computer programming and computer hardware. My favorite subjects are science, math and history.

My first venture into robotics was at the age of 12 when I went to a summer camp by the IDEA-STEM Institute at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where I developed an interest in robotics. Last year we were required to take a computing course and our professor, Jeannette Milland, suggested we join robotics. Jan, Pablo and I decided to give it a go and we became team 2223J in May of 2016. It has been an interesting journey so far, both demanding and satisfying.

This weekend we go to our first VEX competition with our brand new robot. I am looking forward to this next challenge.

Hey! My name is Pablo Torres Arroyo. I'm the main programmer of the group. I study at the University High School and this year, I'll be competing with my group at the Vex competition. I gained an interest in robotics when I was around 10 years old, when I started delving into the world of programming. I entered a robotics summer camp called Techno Inventors at the Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico.

There, we not only created robots, but we also programmed, made hydroponic gardens, designed games and apps, and underwater robots. I went to the summer camp for about 3 years and gained a large interest in robotics. The idea of controlling concrete things with virtual coding just fascinates me. And with my past experience and the new interest I gained for robotics, learning that I could be a part of a robotics team and represent my school filled me with joy.

It has been a interesting experience so far and quite fun as well. It's always fun to discover creative ways of fixing a problem.
