Electronics & Physics
for the 21st Century
Evidence-based teaching of A-level Physics and Electronics.
Evidence-based teaching of A-level Physics and Electronics.
My name is Antonio Coulton. I am currently a lecturer of A-level Electronics and Physics at Burnley College.
Graduating in 2020 from Lancaster University with a 2:1 in Physics with Astrophysics and Cosmology, my final year at university was impacted heavily by the COVID pandemic, cut short with lectures ending around February 2020.
Following this, my PGCE at Edge Hill University in 2020/21 with a professional placement at Wigan and Leigh College was also impacted by COVID, a total of half of my placement hours being completed virtually using Microsoft Teams. A research assignment during my PGCE first allowed me to see the effects of the gender inequality that currently exists in physics.
Now that I have a good experience in teaching, I have had the opportunity to see how students work in electronics and physics and how the course prepares them for the wider world in the 21st century. I have also had the opportunity to share some elements of my work with a group of teachers at a physics teaching conference, and this has inspired me to create this site.
I hope that you as a visitor, as a physics or electronics tutor be it A-level or GCSE, find the information I have collected useful. If you would like to make any contributions or discuss anything, feel free to email me on my personal email acelectronics@murena.io or connect with me using LinkedIn or the Dots, links below.
