Overview
This page documents a key component of our research methodology: a field visit to the Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel to interview staff about their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. As part of the "Our School, Our Community" project, this visit allows students to move beyond the classroom and observe how professional organizations implement environmental responsibility. By studying the hotel's approach to sustainability, student groups can gain valuable insights into solving localized challenges such as waste management, school vending machine litter, and school entrance trash. This experiential learning is essential for bridging the gap between academic awareness and the practical actions needed to create a better community for all.
We visited the Kaohsiung Marriott Hotel, and the staff introduced their environmental protection policies to us.
To support sustainability, the hotel does not use small bottles of toiletries. Instead, they provide large refillable bottles to reduce plastic waste. The hotel also offers some eco-friendly room types to encourage guests to reduce the use of disposable items. In addition, towels are reusable and washable instead of single-use towels, which helps reduce waste and protect the environment.

Off-campus visits
This time, we visited the Marriott Hotel in Kaohsiung. All of us participated, and our teacher also accompanied us. The goal of this trip, carefully planned by our teacher, was to help us learn about different professions, their unique strengths and specialties. Our guide was a company manager who used his work experience to warn us about the hardships of various jobs and encouraged us to bravely pursue our dreams.

We visited the Marriott Hotel, and initially, the staff introduced us to the hotel's operating methods. The explanation was very detailed, which helped us better understand how to run a hotel. We also learned about their efforts on ESG, for example, the circulation system in guest rooms.

The Marriott Hotel has different themed restaurants on each floor, where you can enjoy a variety of Chinese and Western cuisines at the same time. The service staff are also very friendly. I was very surprised to find that the hotel has a huge showroom where you can park your sports cars. There are even two wedding restaurants on the roof called Apollo and Diana Hall, which give it a very luxurious feel. I hope to stay at the Marriott Hotel again or work there in the future.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the interview at the Kaohsiung Marriott provides students with a professional framework to enhance their own environmental stewardship. These real-world insights empower students to take greater ownership of their surroundings and apply structured solutions to campus issues like traffic problems and disposal habits. By learning from professional ESG models, we continue to cultivate a sustainable culture that not only improves our learning environment and school pride but also helps protect the nearby Niaosong Wetlands from human-driven damage.
