Prepare for Travel
Visa Stamp. As of November 30, 2024, China introduced a unilateral visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from 38 countries. This policy, currently valid through December 31, 2025, allows stays of up to 30 days for purposes including business, tourism, transit, family visits, and conferences. Read More.
In addition, citizens of countries with mutual visa-exemption agreements with China also enjoy visa-free entry for similar short-term visits. Read More.
All other travelers will require a visa to enter China. If you need an invitation letter to support your visa application, please contact Yulin Song, one of the conference organizers.
We strongly encourage participants who require a visa to begin the application process well in advance, as processing times may vary and delays are possible. Please note that visa policies are subject to change. We encourage all attendees to confirm their eligibility and check the latest entry requirements before making travel arrangements. We also encourage you to obtain travel insurance for your trip and stay.
Payment Information. Please note that not all places in China accept PayPal. Besides cash in Chinese Yuan (RMB), the most convenient and widely used payment methods among locals are WeChat Pay and Alipay. We strongly recommend that you download both apps in advance and link your credit cards, as some establishments accept only one of these platforms.
Please be aware that foreign cards incur a 3% service fee on transactions exceeding 200 RMB. Both WeChat and Alipay feature English-language mini-programs such as DiDi for convenient taxi services. Additionally, we suggest installing a voice translation app on your phone to assist with communication during your stay.
Local Tranportation. International travelers typically either fly directly to Nanjing Lukou International Airport or arrive at Shanghai airports and then take a high-speed train to Nanjing Railway Station. If you need assistance with transportation from the airport or train station to your hotel, please contact us in advance. We will do our best to provide support.
Internet Access. Please be aware that certain websites and online services, including Google, Gmail, YouTube, and some social media platforms, are not accessible through standard local Wi-Fi networks in mainland China. If you need access to these services during your stay, we recommend that you prepare in advance by activating international data roaming through your mobile provider or by using a reliable VPN service, such as one provided by your home institution.
