Where to Stay We recommend staying close to campus. Hotels along University Lake Drive, 36th Avenue, or in Midtown Anchorage are all within a 5–10 minute hop to the lab.
Getting Around
Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are plentiful in Anchorage.
Parking: Paid parking ($12/day) is available at the East Parking Garage or Consortium Library Lot.
The Scenic Route: Free parking is available at Goose Lake Park—it’s a beautiful, short walk through a wooded path to reach the lab.

Do I need to be a chemist?
Not necessarily! If you have a background in biology, chemistry, or a related field and feel comfortable in a lab setting, you’ll fit right in. We’ll review introductory concepts together.
What will I take home?
Beyond new skills, you’ll keep all datasets and protocols used. The ASET team is also available for future consultation through the AK INBRE Research Analytical Core.
Can I get feedback on my own work?
Yes! There will be plenty of time for Q&A and informal brainstorming with instructors and peers. Our goal is to demystify the 'black box' of mass spectrometry. We want you to leave Anchorage not just with data, but with the confidence to tell the story that data is hiding.
If your schedule allows, consider extending your trip at the end of the 3-day workshop to "bring your own samples".
