With the generous support of the IEEE Information Theory Society, travel grants will be available to partially support selected student to Atttend 2026 IEEE AusITS, Melbourne.
The support will be a lump sum payment between A$300 - A$500 to offset the travel cost.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To be eligible for an AusITS Travel Grant, the applicant must:
Be either a full-time student in an accredited programme at an institution of higher learning
Present a poster at AusITS 2026;
Be recommended by the advisor/mentor with a letter of recommendation.
Note: priority will be given to participants outside Victoria, who do not have an existing booking for the discounted accommodation at Graduate House
Application Material and Timeline
The application should consist of the following documents (incomplete applications will not be considered)
A request/cover letter (maximum 1 page)
A recent CV (maximum 3 pages)
A recommendation letter as per instructions below on the institutional letterhead (this letter is to be included openly in the package submitted by the applicant, please note there is no separate or confidential process for this).

Notification of travel grant awardees: 12 January 2026.
Instruction for Request/Cover Letter
The request/cover letter must be one page with the following information:
Contact information of the applicant: name, email address, academic institution
For students: degree programme, name and contact details of advisor/mentor
A narrative about how the applicant will benefit from participation at AusITS 2026 and how this travel grant will facilitate attendance of AusITS 2026.
Instruction for Recommendation Letter
The recommendation letter should:
Be on the institution letterhead
Confirmation that the student is a full-time PhD, master or undergraduate student with good academic standing at the institution
A statement on the strength and potential of the applicant and their benefit of participation in AusITS 2026
Advisor/mentor’s commitment to cover the student’s travel cost that more than the travel grant
This letter is to be included openly in the package submitted by the applicant, please note there is no separate or confidential process for this.
