2026/2027 Competition Information 

COMPETITION TEAM (optional)

• • Competition Team  is an opportunity for growth and more performance opportunities. Dancers display their artistry, skills and technique and receive critiques from industry professionals to fine tune their skills and ultimately make progress and improve. Dancers who compete become more confident on stage, and at EDS that's what WINNING looks like!

  • Dancers may be part of Company without doing Competition Team, however ONLY company members are eligible to compete.  There is a place on the application for dancers to select the program for the best fit and also whether competition team participation is of interest.

GROUP ROUTINES:

Competition Schedule:
Events are selected based on a variety of factors, including school calendars, spacing between weekends, and overall team balance. We are excited to share the following projected events:

Mandatory Group Events:

• Celebrity | January 15–17, 2027 (no convention)

• Revel | January 29–31, 2027 (Denver)

• Press Play | March 19–21, 2027 (Denver)

The groups will NOT be participating in any of the optional events offered to solos, duos, trios.

Convention participation is mandatory for all events that have a convention associated.

Choreography Camp:
Choreography for all group routines has been scheduled for August 16th (8:30am-12:30pm and 1:15-5:15pm,) August 17th & 18th (4-8pm) 

Fall / Winter / Spring Rehearsal Schedule:

• Company groups will rehearse once per week from September through March. 

• Thursdays 6:15-7:30pm 

• Begins September 8th.

• No rehearsals during regular studio closures: Labor Day, Inter-sessional break OCT 11-18, Thanksgiving Break NOV 22-29, Nutcracker & Holiday Break DEC 13-JAN 3, Blue's Break FEB 14-21.

• The rehearsal during Nutcracker Tech Week will be postponed- a makeup rehearsal may be scheduled

• In the event any rehearsals are cancelled, a makeup rehearsal may be scheduled. 

• Weekly rehearsals will conclude at the end of March with occasional opportunities to run the routines in April and May in preparation for the recital.

We are excited to announce that we will have at least one group team routine choreographed by Wiley & Hannah.  

The dates for rehearsal are planned for August 16-18 and the exact schedule and concept TBA.

• Group Competition Team (minimum 2-3 competitions)

• Only Company Members are eligible to participate in our Competition Team.  Members can participate in a group routine and those who do are eligible for a solo/duo/trio.

• Solo, Duo, and Trio requests will be prioritized based on a company member’s participation in group competition routines. If your dancer would like to request a Solo, Duo, and/or Trio, priority will be given to dancers who are participating in at least one group team routine.  As we are still in the planning stages of shaping our group teams, we recommend submitting your Solo/Duo/Trio request with this policy in mind.

• Being part of our competition team offers dancers invaluable opportunities for personal and artistic growth. It fosters a sense of camaraderie, discipline, and accountability, as dancers work together. Beyond technical skill development, being on a team enhances performance abilities, adaptability, and versatility by exposing dancers to various styles, choreography, and professional instruction. It also provides unique experiences such as competitions, conventions, and performances, helping dancers build lifelong friendships and lasting memories. At EDS, developing these skills—both as dancers and individuals—is what winning truly looks like.

• Dancers may be part of Company without doing Competition Team. However, all members of competition team will be required to participate in Company.
