Applications: Student applications are due May 15. Teacher applications are due May 1.
We invite high school students and teachers around the Lowcountry area to apply to our week-long, non-residential Math Research Experience this summer! We are looking for students and teachers excited about solving new math problems.
The program runs July 20-24, 2026 at The Citadel. Groups of 3 students and 1 mentor will solve problems in a variety of areas of mathematics, including Fibonacci sequences, number theory, and combinatorics.
Worried that you're unprepared? Don't be! We'll teach you what you need to know.

Introduce high school students to the research process from investigation to publication, including how to find problems, how to submit solutions for publication, and how to share the results.
Encourage high school teachers to mentor students in research.
Expose students to mathematics outside the typical high school curriculum.
Submit solutions to problems for publication.
Practice presenting mathematics research orally and written.
Expose students and teachers to the broader mathematical community through attendance at a regional conference.
Create a community of high school students and teachers and Citadel faculty.
Drop off between 8:15am -- 8:30am
Lunch on campus at 11:00am
