His current work emphasizes aluminum alloys, solidification and semi-solid forming processes, and circular technologies for recycling and resource efficiency. He received his Ph.D. in Materials, Physics, and Energy Engineering from Nagoya University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (Metals) in Japan.

Stefan Gneiger holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Materials and Process Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, graduating in 2014 with a focus on metal and plastics technology.
Since joining AIT, Stefan has been working in the casting group, specializing in light metal casting technologies, alloy development, and the processing of aluminium and magnesium alloys. His primary research focuses on the development of new magnesium alloys for casting and wrought applications, where he has published several papers and filed patents.
He is also an active member of various professional committees and standardization bodies, contributing to the advancement of innovative and sustainable practices in the light metals industry.
