By clicking the “Donate” button below, you’ll help continue the legacy of the ALS basketball game — keeping every dollar in San Diego to fund ALS research, care, and patient support services, and to honor the courage and strength of the Fisher family.
Hoops Fight ALS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by former players, coaches, and staff of the University of Michigan Men’s Basketball program. United by the lifelong connection built through their time in Ann Arbor, they have come together to strengthen their bond as a Michigan basketball brotherhood while raising awareness and funds in the fight against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
Inspired by their legendary Head Coach, Steve Fisher — who led Michigan to the 1989 National Championship and helped define a generation of Michigan basketball — and his son, Mark Fisher, who continues to courageously battle ALS every day, the group draws strength from the Fisher's humility, perseverance, and grace, which have become the heartbeat of their mission.
Hoops Fight ALS honors the Fisher family’s incredible spirit by supporting ALS research and patient care in both Ann Arbor and San Diego, where the Fisher family resides and where Mark has received exceptional treatment since his diagnosis.
Importantly, all proceeds from this year’s ALS basketball game at San Diego State University will stay right here in San Diego — directly funding local ALS research, care, and patient support services.
Through this commitment, Hoops Fight ALS proudly stands beside the Fisher family and the entire San Diego ALS community — uniting Michigan and San Diego in a shared purpose to fight this disease together.
Together, Hoops Fight ALS channels the same teamwork, toughness, and compassion that defined their time on the court into something even greater: a movement of brothers determined to defeat ALS as one team.
