Arrive dressed and ready no later than 30 minutes before the event
Doors will open at 6:00 PM for the Showcase
Please be on time to give performers time to adjust to their surroundings and get comfortable before they take the stage.
Performance will begin at 6:30 PM
Hair is to be pulled back and out of the face. A bun, ponytail, and/or braid are acceptable.
Make-Up is not mandatory, however a little age appropriate color is suggested as the stage light can wash out eyes and cheeks.
All policies outlined in the SSD handbook, the parent portal, team contract, and privacy policy are applicable at the venue. These policies can be found inside your parent portal.
Be kind and courteous inside and outside of the building.
Be kind to your neighbor in the seats next to you and don't become a distraction.
Aggression towards another parent or family member, a teacher, staff member, performer, or staff of the venue will result in removal by police and possible dismissal from the program. This includes family members outside of immediate family of performers.
You may video and take pictures. However, NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. We will stop the show if we see flash photography. You may post to social media your child ONLY.
DO NOT share any competition team videos.
Nobody is permitted backstage except for staff members, teachers, vetted volunteers, and the director.
This is to ensure the safety of all performers during the event.
The same rule applies to the dressing area.
If your child has an issue, we will call for you.
Parking and entry will be done around the back of the school and through the glass doors.
No food or drink, including waters, are allowed inside the theater. This is not SSD's policy, this is the venue's policy. They do take this seriously.
Do not leave waste in the auditorium, on stage, back stage, dressing areas, or the bathrooms.
If you are bringing a gift of flowers, do not bring them in a vase of water, bring them wrapped. Flowers with vases will need to be left in the car.
There is to be no stopping or loitering in the upper lobby area. Move through point a to point b as quickly as you are able.
Do not get up in the middle of a number unless it is an emergency. This disrupts the performance for the audience and possibly the performer.
No talking while a number is being performed. Encouragement of the dancers presentation is always welcomed and encouraged with claps and shouts, but please keep all talking to a minimum. This is a performance for everyone and everyone's time and attention is just as important as the next person.
After performances, show encouragement for all kids on stage. We understand you are there to see your child perform, but they are in the SSD family along with their classmates. For a younger performer especially, it is intimidating for them to be onstage, let alone perform their number they have worked hard for.
No kicking the back of the seat in front of you.
No standing to block the eye view of audience members behind you during numbers unless it is an emergency only.
No lounging with your feet on the back of another's seat.
Please use common courtesy and common sense. If it would make you mad, upset, and disrespected, it will more than likely be the same for someone else.
