Flowers by FloraCause
We will be using FloraCause for pre-ordering recital flowers! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to LGS Foundation in honor of one of our current dancers, Connor, who has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) is a severe epilepsy syndrome that develops in young children and often leads to lifelong disability. Nobody is born with LGS. It develops over time. LGS is a rare disease (approximately one person in every 2,000). About 50,000 people in the United States and 1 million people worldwide have LGS.
Here is what Connor's mom has to say!
"Connor S is a student in the We Can Dance class. He has been part of the CSDA family for 6 years and performs and competes with the Outreach Teams We Can Dance Crew. Connor has had epilepsy since he was an infant with Infantile Spams. During childhood he was diagnosed with a rare form of epilepsy named Lennox Gastaut Syndrome (LGS).
LGS is a severe epilepsy syndrome that develops in children and often leads to lifelong disabilities. Many people with LGS have multiple different types of seizures and specific EEG patterns. Behavioral problems and intellectual delays are very common, often worsening as they get older. LGS is treated with a combination of anti-seizure medications, special diets, stimulator devices, and/or brain surgeries.
Connor takes multiple anti-seizure medications and has a Vagus Nerve Stimulator. Unfortunately, Connor still seizes multiple times a day. He loves dancing and being part of the CSDA family!"
