At Girls Inc. of Greater Houston, Be BOLD isn’t just a motto, it’s a mindset. It’s about owning your power, speaking up, and chasing your dreams with confidence.
This year, we are celebrating International Day of the Girl (#IDOTG) with the Be BOLD Summit: Fast Track to Bold! The 2025 Be BOLD Summit brings girls from all over Houston for one unforgettable day of leadership, self-discovery, and career inspiration. You’ll rotate through three tracks, STRONG, SMART, and BOLD, each one helping you grow a different side of your leadership journey. Think of it as a fast pass to your most fearless self.
You’ll meet inspiring women who are doing big things in their fields, from science to sports to social change...and hear real stories about how they got there. You’ll walk away with new connections, big ideas, and the confidence to say: “I can do that, too.”
This year’s theme, Fast Track to BOLD, features a keynote speaker who is blazing trails in a field where women are still underrepresented. She’s fast. She’s fearless. She breaks barriers, and her story will light a fire in you to go after whatever you want, boldly.
Bonus: While you’re in workshops, your parents and caregivers can attend sessions too, on things like college prep, SMART financial prep. We’ve also got prizes, vendors, a photo booth, and more surprises in store!

Keynote Speaker
Alma Winkel
From Pointe Shoes to Race Cars: A Bold Life, One Leap at a Time
Alma Rosa Winkel isn’t your average business leader—she races in the legendary Baja 1000, one of the toughest off-road competitions in the world. It's a grueling race through the deserts of Mexico that pushes drivers and their vehicles to the limit, and Alma is one of the few women out there doing it. She’s also a thyroid cancer survivor, a trained ballet dancer, a certified scuba diver, and a licensed pilot. Her life is defined by courage, curiosity, and a deep commitment to helping others.
By day, Alma is a Senior Vice President at U.S. Bank, where she works with major clients like McDonald’s. She’s been married for 24 years and has served on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston for over a decade, helping provide support to families in crisis. Her education journey took her from graduating high school summa cum laude to studying Business Administration at Monterrey Tech in Mexico, and later earning her MBA from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
Her message to you?
Say yes to new challenges.
Never stop learning.
And don’t be afraid to chase your dreams—on the road, in the sky, or wherever life takes you.
Dream Big, Start Here: Opportunities in Houston and at HCC
Cheryl Smith
Closing Session
In this session, girls and their families will learn about the exciting opportunities that Houston has to offer—from booming industries to community resources—and how Houston Community College (HCC) can help turn dreams into reality.
HCC will spotlight empowering success stories of HCC students, showcase their programs in health, tech, business, and more, and provide parents with helpful tips on navigating financial aid, college readiness, and how to support their daughters’ goals.
A huge thank you to our Title Sponsor, Enterprise Holdings Foundation! For the past five years, Enterprise has shown up BIG for our girls, investing in everything from our Be BOLD Institute and Camp SMART to leadership programs like the BOLD Leaders Initiative.
Their generosity has provided hundreds of girls across Houston with access to literacy support, STEM exploration, college readiness, and the confidence to lead boldly in their schools and communities.
On top of that, Enterprise employees have rolled up their sleeves alongside us, leading STEM activities and volunteering at camp. We couldn’t be more grateful for a partner that believes, like we do, that every girl deserves to be strong, smart, and bold!
