If you are a Master’s or PhD student attending the ISARC – CSCE/CRC – MOC 2025, hosted by Concordia University, we encourage you to seize this opportunity by being part of this competition.
This year, the AACE 3MT+1 Construction Elevator Pitch Competition will be featured as part of the CSCE Construction Graduate Students Colloquium, a dynamic platform that includes a full day of hands-on training and interactive workshops leading to the competition.
The competition empowers researchers to effectively pitch their work by distilling complex ideas into concise, compelling presentations. Participants highlight groundbreaking research in areas such as risk management, cost and project control, automation, and artificial intelligence, bridging the gap between academia and industry, amplifying research impact, and fostering meaningful collaboration.

How to Apply
Be a current Master’s or PhD student at the time of the competition, July 28, 2025.
Attend in person in Montreal, Canada.

A panel of academic and industry experts will evaluate all presentations. The top three presenters will each receive a certificate and a financial prize, presented during the conference Gala Dinner on July 30, 2025, at the Montreal Convention Centre.

Q1: Can participants attend the AACE 3+1 MT competition online?
A: No, all participants must attend the AACE 3+1 MT competition in person in Montreal. If selected, you must be able to travel and, if needed, secure the appropriate visa or travel authorization to participate.
Q2: Can I participate in the AACE 3+1 MT competition and related training/workshops if I’m not registered for the conference?
A: Yes, you can still participate in the AACE 3+1 competition even if you are not registered for the main conference. However, you must register separately if you wish to attend sessions from the three co-located conferences during the event.
Q3: Do I need to present a paper or my thesis at the conference to compete?
A: No, presenting a paper or thesis at the conference is not a requirement to participate in the AACE 3+1 MT competition. All Master’s and PhD students are welcome to apply, regardless of whether they are presenting at the conference.
Q4: Can I present the content from my conference paper during the competition?
A: No, the AACE 3+1 MT competition is focused on showcasing your thesis research—not content from a conference paper. While your thesis may overlap with your paper, your presentation must be based on your overall thesis work and framed as such. The goal is to clearly and concisely communicate your thesis research to a broad audience within the time limit.
Q5: Is there a submission or application fee to participate?
A: No, there is no fee to apply or participate in the AACE 3+1 MT competition. However, selected participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
Q6: How will submissions be screened or judged?
A: Submissions will undergo an initial screening phase to shortlist finalists based on clarity, relevance, and alignment with competition objectives. Finalists will then advance to the in-person competition round.
Q7: Who will be evaluating the presentations?
A: Final presentations will be judged by a panel of experts from both industry and academia, ensuring a well-rounded evaluation based on communication effectiveness, innovation, impact, and delivery.
Q8: What happens if I can’t attend the Gala Dinner to receive my award?
A: While we encourage all winners to attend the Gala Dinner to be recognized in person, we understand this may not always be possible. If you are unable to attend, please contact us at montreal@aacei.org.
