To become more familiar with the equipment, we explored a couple different methods of surveying. To achieve this, we set up a control point at a higher elevation in the courtyard as another team member went a considerable distance in order measure elevation, distance and relative angle. This was replicated for multiple points to form a small plot. We compared this process and results to the type of data obtained using a total station. In the case of the total station, we were able to gather the radial distance to the marker, horizontal angle, and vertical angle. For the purposes of this project, the team decided the best technique would involve the surveying level.Â
