The philosopher Noemí Sanz Merino (University of the Balearic Islands) presents the book Women in Philosophy (Sinderesis, in press).
Location: Matadero Uno Bookstore
Date: July 17, 2024
Time: 19:00
The book is the result of a project launched by a group of researchers from the Department of Philosophy of the University of the Balearic Islands, and enriched with the collaboration and experience of specialist philosophers from all over Spain. As such, the publication as a whole has a clear general goal: to participate in Philosophy teaching and research work guided by the value of equality. Specifically, with this book we want to contribute to continuing to do justice –epistemic– to women in Philosophy and to do so from philosophical reflection. Do justice, epistemic justice, with respect to the place that women have had and have in Philosophy because only by considering both the past and the present can the testimonial inequality and epistemic gaps that still persist in Philosophy be eliminated.
Thus, the very varied contributions that Women in Philosophy includes continue with the work of continuing to give visibility to women intellectuals who can enrich philosophical work, address the stereotypical conceptions that women have had in the History of Philosophy, denounced the deficient situations that women professionals in Philosophy still face today and highlight gender perspectives as properly philosophical forms of work.
