Unmasking The Midyear Convention Tours
What to expect and which ones are the best for you

Between the scientific sessions of the three-day 2024 Philippine Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery's Midyear Convention, take the opportunity to delve into the rich culture and heritage of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental with our exclusive tour packages.

From exploring historical landmarks, fun resorts and heritage sites to indulging in local delicacies, these tours promise a memorable and immersive journey through the heart of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
Tour Package #1: The Talisay-Silay City Heritage Tour
On May 9, 2024, from 2-7 pm, participants will embark on a journey to discover the rich heritage of Talisay and Silay Cities. Starting with a pick-up at the SMX Convention Center - Bacolod, the tour will then visit the San Diego Pro-Cathedral in Silay City, the only pro-cathedral in the country. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to explore the ancestral houses of Silay City, full of charming stories from the past. Guided tours of the Hofilena Museum and the ancestral home "Balay ni Tana Dicang" in Talisay City are additional highlights. The tour concludes with a splendid sunset viewing at "The Ruins," also known as the Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson Mansion, which is sure to enchant visitors.
TIP: We definitely recommend this packed itinerary to delegates who would like to get the most out of their Day 2 afternoon.
Tour Package #2: Campuestohan Highland Resort and The Ruins Tour
Participants can choose to embark on a tour that combines family fun and architectural wonder. After being picked up at the SMX Convention Center - Bacolod, participants will travel to the picturesque Campuestohan Highland Resort. The resort has something for everyone: scenic views, and fun activities for the young ones, and the young once, and cool mountain air for everyone to enjoy.
Enjoy a sampling of local Negrense delicacies. Afterward, the tour continues to "The Ruins," where participants can witness the golden hues of the sunset illuminating the remnants of the Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson Mansion. The tour concludes with a tasting of freshly squeezed sugarcane juice before being dropped off at the SMX Convention Center - Bacolod.
TIP: We recommend this for those who prefer a relaxed tour, and for those who are coming with loved ones and kids.

Tour Package #3: Bacolod Food Crawl Tour
On the morning of Day 3 (May 10) from 8 am onward, culinary enthusiasts can embark on a delightful Bacolod Food Crawl Tour.
The journey begins with a pick-up at the SMX Convention Center - Bacolod, followed by a rolling tour of Bacolod's iconic sites, including the San Sebastian Cathedral, Bacolod Public Plaza and Bandstand, Provincial Capitol Building and Lagoon, and the Bacolod City Government Center.
The highlight of this tour is undoubtedly the food samplings of iconic local delicacies. Participants will get a chance to sample Bailon's Artisanal Piaya, Bacolod Chicken Inasal, and Roli's Napoleones. Get the chance to do some souvenir shopping Negros Volunteers for Change (NVC) Showroom. There will be a quick lunch of Bacolod Cansi, and dessert at the ever popular Calea Cakes and Pastries (lunch and dessert are exclusive of the tour fee).
The tour concludes with participants being dropped off at the SMX Convention Center in time for the afternoon's scientific sessions.
TIP: This is the busier itinerary of the 2nd tour day. We recommend this especially to first-time visitors to Bacolod City, and those who would like to try as much local delicacies during their stay.
Tour Package #4: Mambukal Mountain Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary Tour
Nature enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the breathtaking beauty of Mambukal Mountain Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary on May 10, 2024, from 8 am to 1 pm.
After being picked up at the SMX Convention Center - Bacolod, participants will travel to Mambukal, where they can enjoy the Japanese Ofuro hot dipping pool, explore the three dipping pools, and trek through the seven waterfalls. Surrounded by lush greenery and diverse wildlife, this tour offers a rejuvenating experience and a chance to reconnect with nature. Catch the opportunity to have a quick massage or foot spa at Spa Natura which opens at 10am (spa fees are separate from the tour fees). After exploring the sanctuary, participants have a quick beef cansi lunch and some pasalubong shopping before being dropped off back at the SMX Convention Center - Bacolod.
TIP: This is the more relaxed and scenic option for the 2nd tour day, best for those with kids or those who want to have a lazy morning trip.

SPECIAL ADVOCACY ACTIVITY:
EARS, NOSE AND TARGETS: A PRACTICAL GUN SAFETY WORKSHOP
As part of our commitment to community engagement and safety, we are proud to announce the launch of the Gun Safety Advocacy by the PSO-HNS Western Visayas Chapter through the Practical Gun Safety Workshop.
As head and neck trauma specialists handling gunshot injuries, it is important that we understand how firearms work and how they should be handled safely.
With this, we offer this practical gun safety workshop for delegates who have zero to little experience in handling handguns. This is also open to those who would like to have a refresher. This workshop comes with a Certificate of Completion.
Depending on the number of registrants, we may offer the chance to shoot more rounds for those who wish to purchase additional bullets, and as time will permit.
UPDATE: We have limited the Gun Safety Seminar to May 10 for now, and will reopen May 9 once slots for May 10 are filled.
