Keynote

We feel fortunate and very excited to be able to present as our keynote speaker this year activist, author, and social reformer Sam Daley-Harris.

Sam has long been interested in fighting poverty, empowering citizens, and developing climate change solutions. An advisory board member of CCL, his book Reclaiming Our Democracy came out in a brand new edition just this past January. Jimmy Carter said that this book “provides a road map for global involvement in planning a better future.

Sam Daley-Harris is the founder of the Microcredit Summit Campaign; the Center for Citizen Empowerment and Transformation; and RESULTS, an international citizens’ lobby dedicated to creating the political will to end poverty.  The RESULTS methodology was the original model for CCL.

In addition to opening the conference with the keynote address, Sam will offer a breakout session on “How to revitalize your chapter.”

Sam will be available to sign his book and chat with volunteers until 1 pm

You can find out more about Sam from his nine-minute interview on NPR's Here and Now,  which aired January 9th. Also check out his 33-minute interview on NPR's Think (Jan 8), and his interview on The Laura Flanders Show (on select PBS stations starting January 21).

Many of the world’s problems, including poverty, poor health, and ignorance are correctable. In Reclaiming Our Democracy, Sam Daley-Harris shows us how to take action to eliminate these problems. And he provides a road map for global involvement in planning a better future.

–President Jimmy Carter

[T]his book … is about uncovering and then lighting up the unquenchable desire in each of us to make a difference in the world. It is about providing a powerful structure of support so that our courage is what drives us, not our fear. That is why this 20th-anniversary edition of Reclaiming Our Democracy is so critically important.

–Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus

The story behind RESULTS … has as much power today in the climate fight and the remarkable work of the Citizens Climate Lobby as it did 25 years ago when RESULTS started empowering citizens to make a big difference on seemingly intractable problems like hunger and child mortality.

–Jeff Nesbitt, CEO, Climate Nexus
