We are thrilled to welcome you to the seventh annual Wenzao International Conference on Southeast Asian Studies (Wenzao ICSEAS), hosted by the Department of Southeast Asian Studies at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. Our faculty and students are genuinely excited to have you join us for this event, which will explore the multifaceted aspects of regionalization in Southeast Asia.  

Over the past few decades, Southeast Asia has undergone a remarkable transformation, marked by the regionalization process. At the heart of this transformation lies the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which has fostered cooperation and integration among its member states. Despite notable successes, ASEAN has also encountered challenges and criticisms. This conference provides a platform for examining these issues, including culture and identity, geopolitics, society and economy, geopolitics, Oversea Chinese and gender issues. We are honored to have over 40 thought-provoking papers that delve into crucial topics. Additionally, we have organized special panels where presenters will deliver their papers in Vietnamese and Indonesian, enhancing the richness of our discussions.  

At Wenzao, we consider ourselves a hub and platform for researchers interested in Southeast Asia. We firmly believe that face-to-face interactions are essential for fostering connections, sharing research interests, and exchanging innovative ideas among researchers. We are confident that you will find the keynote speech and presentations engaging and intellectually stimulating. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the domestic and international scholars and experts whose ongoing research has illuminated the path of regionalization and its discontents in Southeast Asia. These valuable insights will undoubtedly catalyze constructive efforts toward sustainable development and well-being in the region.
