Introduction

Prof. Charles W. Tu, the Yushan scholar at National Chung-Hsing University, established The ENgineering in Agriculture and Biotech Leadership (ENABLE Center) in 2018 and proposed the idea of combining Science and Technology specialties with our expertise in Agricultural Biotech to promote integrated projects and related activities.

ENABLE Center not merely supervises and supports the integration of cross-field research teams but also provides a platform and initial research & development funds in the university. In addition, cross-industry cooperation and prospective study are encouraged for creating higher education value. ENABLE Center Annual Meeting is held to present the cross-field achievements and the cross-field experts including professionals in UCSD are invited to visit Taiwan to conduct interviews, exchange and share experiences with domestic students in the related field of Agriculture and Engineering.

ENABLE Center scales up the UCSD-NCHU Joint Symposium & ENABLE / IDCSA / SMARTer Annual Meeting aiming to further expand the academic exchanges with University of California, San Diego. The joint symposium will be taken turns to conduct in NCHU and UC San Diego in order to stimulate the researcher mobility and participation from both sides as well as to deepen the partnerships. We hope that UCSD-NCHU Joint Symposium will evolve into a sustainable, distinctive, cross-field academic activity that attracts international attention.
