Registration
All participants must register to participate in the Challenge. You may enter the Challenge either as a single participant or as a team. In either case, upon registration, you need to choose a team name. Multiple registrations under different team names are not permitted.
Training sets
Participants may use any publicly available data set to train their machine learning models, or the Training Set provided by the organizers. After registering, participants will receive a link where they can download the data that are provided by the organizers. Although these data are carefully researched, they are not guaranteed to be correct. Participants agree that they will not make publicly available or disseminate the provided data, or the download link, to non-registered users. Participants agree that they use the provided data only in the context of the 2023 Soccer Prediction Challenge and not for commercial purposes.
Submission of predictions
The submissions must be according to the provided template. Submissions in other formats cannot be accepted. Only one submission per team is allowed. Participants must provide a short abstract that describes the methods and data sets used.
Selection of submissions for possible inclusion in the special issue “Machine Learning in Soccer”
Selected top-performing teams will be invited to describe their models and analytical approaches for a submission to the special issue "Machine Learning in Soccer" of the Machine Learning journal. All invited papers will undergo the regular peer-review process of the Machine Learning journal.
