Invitations
Our slow marathon will include three stages, but each teacher and writing group leader will determine the pace and timing that works for their writing community:
Create and Celebrate (sharing nine writing invitations to write and share)
Craft and Critique (shaping small poems - resources tba)
Curate and Publish (celebrating and publishing our small poems - information tba)
We will explore nine writing invitations to inspire us to Map Our Past, Present, and Future with the theme of Cartography (the study and practice of making and using maps) to provide an overarching connection during the Create and Celebrate phase of our slow marathon.
Some examples of group plans:
The Just Write Virtual Writing Group will explore each of the nine invitations over nine weeks in January and February and wrapping up the first week in March.
Morehead State's Eng 391 (Advanced Expository Writing) will explore three invitations each of the first three weeks in the semester.
Each invitation includes tips for writing and responding, questions and ideas to write, a children's book, and poetry for teachers and writing group leaders to adapt for their unique community of writers.
