New Mexico School for the Deaf
June 26th - 29th, 2023
Dear NSLDHH Attendees,
Welcome to New Mexico! On behalf of the New Mexico School for the Deaf, I am happy to welcome you to “The Land of Enchantment” and to our beautiful campus.
The NMSD Community is known for their warmth and hospitality, and we are thrilled to host this important conference. You will find that New Mexicans are passionate about preserving our traditions, protecting our natural beauty, and embracing the spirit of the land. We take great pride in our diverse community and the unity that binds us together.
Santa Fe, known as the "City Different," is a place where cultures blend, art and creativity thrive, and traditions are cherished. Santa Fe is also surrounded by majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the vast expanses of the high desert, and the ancient ruins of our Native American ancestors. I hope that during the conference, you find inspiration in our remarkable surroundings.
I have long believed that Student Life is what truly makes a school a Deaf School. You are tasked with the sacred responsibility of making sure our children are well cared for, nurtured, and loved. Student Life also holds an integral role for day students who participate in after-school programs. Your programs allow D/HH children to continue to develop social, emotional, and world-knowledge skills that last them a lifetime.
With great regret, I cannot be there during the conference as I will be attending a conference myself. Within the spirit of New Mexico, may the conference fill your mind and heart with energy, ideas, and inspiration.
Once again, welcome to the New Mexico School for the Deaf.
With warmest regards,
Dr. Jennifer Herbold
Superintendent
Greetings to our fellow “Student Lifers”!
Welcome to New Mexico, the “Land of Enchantment”, and the chile capital of the world and Santa Fe, the “City Different”. We are very excited about this year’s conference especially a long hiatus since American School for the Deaf hosted the conference in 2019. We believe that our desire to get back together is evident based on the number of participants we have this year. It is our goal to make your experience at Santa Fe and New Mexico School for the Deaf highly memorable. We hope to have you bring a wealth of resources back to your school/agency. We encourage you to make time to explore all what Santa Fe has to offer during your stay.
Let’s Dream, Explore, and Achieve together this week. Our students simply deserve the best!
