Director of Bands, Rock Canyon High School
Trevor McLaine is in his first year as the Director of Bands at Rock Canyon. Prior to RCHS, Mr. McLaine taught at his alma mater, Fort Mill High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Mr. McLaine earned his Bachelor of Music Education and a Performance Certificate on the saxophone from the University of South Carolina and his Master of Music Education from Florida State University, where he was able to work with the world renowned Marching Chiefs, Seminole Sound basketball pep band, and the University concert bands. Mr. McLaine is also passionate about developing leadership in band students, and serves on the SWAG Team at the Music For All Summer Symposium every year since 2019.

Scott McGowan has been teaching the Rocky Heights Middle Bands and Orchestras since 2012 and is in his twenty-fourth year of teaching. He has had the privilege of teaching in Iowa, Texas and Colorado at every level, elementary through college, with award-winning programs.
Mr. McGowan earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa and Master of Music from the University of Colorado. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Music Education degree. Mr. McGowan has performed professionally and written music for all types of ensembles throughout the state of Colorado. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA), Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA), and American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) .

Mr. Tidaback has been performing and teaching music for over 30 years. Originally from a small farm town in Illinois, Doug studied Music Performance and Education from the University of Illinois, San Jose State University, Chapman University, and the University of Arizona. He has performed with the Monterey Symphony, The Temptations, The Supremes, Harry Connick Jr, Aretha Franklin, and many others. Mr. Tidaback founded school music programs at Bonny Doon School in California, Central Catholic Schools of Bloomington Illinois, and the Tucson Jazz Institute in Tuscon, Arizona. Students from his award winning ensembles have gone on to study at Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Yale, Juilliard, Berklee, The Manhattan School of Music, Miami, USC, and other great universities. Mr. Tidaback recently moved to the Denver area to be close to family.

Ms. Wessel has had a passion for music her entire life. She graduated from CSU-Pueblo in 2003 with a degree in Music Education, K-12. Ms. Wessel has taught general music, choir, and band in the Douglas County School District since 2005. She teaches private lessons after school and also directs youth theater and camps for Performing Arts Academy and Inspire Theater Company. Ms. Wessel is a Disney fanatic and proud wife to Matt and Mom to Lydia, Wyatt, Daphne, and Emmett.

Director of Education, Colorado Chamber Orchestra
Ms. Davidson is a veteran teacher with an expertise in beginning instrumental music instruction. She has been teaching for over 25 years in various combinations of subjects, always including beginning instrumental music instruction. Ms. Davidson started the Rock Canyon Elementary Instrumental Music program (https://rceim.webs.com/), an educational outreach program of the Colorado Chamber Orchestra, in 2009, in response to District budget cuts and in response to many people requesting that a band and orchestra program continue. Her program grew to include the Castle View and Chaparral feeder areas in 2010, won the Macaroni Kids Best Music Lessons Award in 2014, expanded to include the Ponderosa, Mountain Vista and ThunderRidge areas in 2016, and won the Macaroni Kids Best Music Lessons Award in 2016 and agin in 2019. She is excited to continue her collaboration with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra and to bring a quality program into the Rock Canyon feeder area again this year. Keeping the opportunity to play an instrument available to our kids is her top priority.

Mr. Dale is proud to be the Orchestra Director at Rock Canyon High School and is thrilled to be a part of the Rock Canyon Elementary Instrumental Music program again this year! Mr. Dale was born and raised in Minnesota where he started Suzuki cello at the age of four. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where he majored in Cello Performance, Music Education, and Musical Arts (with a Music Therapy concentration) and minored in Viola da Gamba performance. Before moving to Colorado, Mr. Dale taught Orchestra for three years in New York and two years in New Jersey. Prior to coming to Douglas County, Mr. Dale directed the Standley Lake High School Orchestra (JEFFCO School District) and taught beginning string lessons at seven of the elementary schools in the Standley Lake area of Westminster. Mr. Dale has now been here in Douglas County for almost a decade and loves being a part of the Rock Canyon area community.
Color Guard Director, RCHS
Marguerite Sanford is a native of Colorado Springs, CO, and has been involved in the Color Guard activity for over a decade. She has performed internationally with independent groups based in Colorado and has worked with multiple groups qualifying for WGI World Championships for multiple years, herself earning semifinalist and finalist commendations. Mrs. Sanford has been dancing with OPE (Oracle performance ensemble) since 2014, performing an array of different styles including jazz, modern, ballet, contemporary, and lyrical. She also has experience with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, recently performing in the opening ceremony of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Bahrain and the BK Alumni performance at "Drums Along the Rockies." Mrs. Sanford is passionate about her craft and strives to develop the future of the activity through teaching. Mrs. Sanford has been involved in the Rock Canyon Bands Program since 2016.
Color Guard Instructor, RCHS
Blair Bickerton first got involved with Color Guard in 2010. She spun with the Dakota Ridge Color Guard for five years and competed at WGI World Championships in 2019 with Rise Winterguard before joining the Rock Canyon staff that same year. Color Guard has been and continues to be a passion project for Blair and she feels incredibly grateful to be a part of this program and have the opportunity to help it grow.
Percussion Instructor, RCHS
Teag Solberg was born and raised near Chicago, Illinois. He studied with Chicago professional percussionist, Bobby Christian. He also studied Music Performance at Weber State University, 1982-1985. In September of 1985, Mr. Solberg joined the Air Force Band and served ten years there as a percussionist, soloist, and drum set player.
He has performed at many prestigious events for U.S. Presidents, statesmen, international dignitaries, and celebrities – such as Presidents Reagan & Bush 41, Mikael Gorbachev, and state governors. He has also performed with entertainers such as Bob Hope, Henry Mancini, Dinah Shore, Patty Andrews, Robert Goulet, Merv Griffin, Arturo Sandoval, Tanya Tucker, Al Hurt, Chubby Checkers, Fred Rogers, and at the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
Mr. Solberg performs classical, jazz, country, pop, and marching genres of music. He performed locally with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and the Arapahoe, Littleton, Aurora, Jefferson County, and Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra. He currently performs with the Parker Symphony Orchestra as Principal Timpanist and as Percussion Section Leader. He also plays drum set with Swing Connection, a 10-piece swing band, the Joe Peterson Orchestra, the Tait Solberg Jazz Quartet, and Young Voices Choir of Colorado.
Mr. Solberg has been a dedicated teacher of percussion and drums for thirty years. He has been Head Percussion Instructor at Heritage High School and Legend High School and has taught at Pine Lane Intermediate School. He has been adjudicator for the Douglas County Solo and Ensemble competition and the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association.
Mr. Solberg is always happy to “give an extra set of ears and eyes” to rehearsals and conducts master classes. He also operates his own private music studio.
