About

Hi, I'm Heather Lewis

I am a mom of three amazing children, an Army and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, and a lover of nature and the environment. Originally from California, I spent my childhood exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains, coastal redwoods, and everywhere in between, which fostered my love of the natural world. My time in the Army took me out of California, and in 2011 I moved to the Augusta, Georgia area. After years of procrastination, I finally decided to pursue my bachelor's degree, and in 2017 I began taking classes part time through Penn State World Campus. My degree path began with International Relations, but after my first semester, I realized that wasn't for me. In my search for a more fulfilling degree I found Energy & Sustainability Policy. Although kids, work, and life have all slowed my progress, I have finally reached the culmination of all I have learned and worked for these last six years. This capstone Tree Ordinance Project has helped me learn more about myself and my community, and I hope it will lead us all to a more resilient and sustainable future.Â
