[Abstract]

In this workshop, Taiwan WSDC National Team Head Coach Wen-Yu Weng will introduce the participants to the creation of arguments in formal debates. We will learn how to look at an issue and determine reasons for supporting or opposing it, and then turning those reasons into well-organized and logically sound arguments that can be strongly persuasive in a public discussion forum. Participants will learn to improve and expand the support for their arguments and to improve their critical thinking in order to find flaws in the arguments that they oppose. The workshop will provide a foundation that will allow participants to begin practicing and participating is Parliamentary Debate as well as just winning arguments with your friends.

No prior debate experience is assumed or necessary.
