MBEA1116 | 20222023-1 | DESIGN PRE-THESIS 1 - SOCIO-CULTURE
Independent living are designed for seniors who are generally in good health and able to independently survive but wanted to simplify their lives. Although Malaysians have traditionally practised the custom of co-residence of the elderly and their children. However, as Malaysians social traits have changed in line with rising urbanisation and modernisation some of their children usually migrate away from their home to find a better job or educational opportunity thus leaving their parent. This fully reflects the needs for an independent elderly housing for the fast-aging society, offering a new cultural framework to implement new social and economic policies.
