Since 2013, Florida Gold Coast has scheduled the Michael’s Memorial Meet the month of September as a tribute to a great man who loved the sport of swimming.

Michael Fish was hit by a drunk driver the morning of May 14, 2011, while riding his bike and pronounced dead the next day on May 15th. He is survived by his lovely wife Kathy Fish, and his kids Jared and Hannah.

Kathy is the FGC Assistant Official’s Chair, and the meet Head Referee for this event.

Those who knew Mike, can attest to his kindness and willingness to share his knowledge when officiating on pool decks across South Florida and nationwide.

To create awareness, every year, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) organizes a 5K walk/run to pay tribute to victims and raise money to help families of victims of drunk driving.
