WHAT PLAYERS NEED TO BRING

  • Gray or White Baseball pants (at least 2 pair)

  • Socks (at least 2 pair)

  • Belt (any color; must wear a belt if pants have belt loops)

  • All game/training equipment necessary, such as bat*, glove, cleats, turfs/sneakers, catching gear and any other position specific equipment.

  • T-shirts and shorts for evening workouts

  • Copy of Health Insurance Card to be kept in your equipment bag

  • Spending money for souvenirs and/or extra snacks

* PLEASE NOTE: You cannot carry a baseball bat on an airplane, nor can it be part of carry-on luggage. It must be inside a checked baseball bag or suitcase.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • The possession and/or use of drugs, alcohol or cigarettes is strictly prohibited – and may be grounds for immediate dismissal from the event.

  • A curfew time at which all players are to be in their own rooms is set on the itinerary. After that time, players found to be in violation of curfew are subject to disciplinary actions.

(The Freshman Rules have not posted yet but they should be similar to these...)

2021 Sophomore Fall Classic (Wood Bat) Rules

1. This Tournament is for HS Graduating Classes of 2024 and younger players only. No exceptions –

2. All Games are played at Peoria Sports Complex, Surprise complex, Goodyear, and GCC

3. You are responsible for your teams safety and hydration – No shared water bottles, no spitting, no seeds/peanuts and NO Tobacco! No Water jugs or water source will be provided.

4. You Must Completely Clean out your dugout immediately after your game is complete.

5. NO PRE GAME INFIELD ON FIELDS - NO TEAM MEETINGS on fields

6. All Games have time limits. 7 innings or no new inning after 2 hours. Tie games are permitted in Pool Play. No extra innings in pool play. Playoffs will have 2 hour time limit also.

7. NFHS rules with local modifications. 10 runs after 4 innings or 8 runs after 5 innings rule is in effect for all games. Wood or wood composite bats only.

8. Players may be on multiple rosters for Pool Play but must designate only 1 team prior to start of Playoffs. All players must be on submitted electronic roster prior to 1st game. No exceptions. ALL ROSTER CHANGES MUST BE PRIOR TO 1ST GAME.

9. Home Team is designated on schedule. Home team will be official scorebook. Final Scorecard will be collected by tournament staff at field from HOME TEAM. Both Managers will verify final score to Tournament Staff.

10. DH and EH are allowed. You may use as many EH’s as you wish. (You may also hit the entire roster) . Integrity of batting order must be maintained. You must be in the batting order to play defense. Free substitution is only available for those hitting the entire lineup. Lineup Cards are available if needed and must be given to Umpire and opposing team. If you hit the entire lineup and a player is injured/ejected, that spot becomes an automatic out.

11. Be sure and start games on time. Umpires will start pre game meeting 5 minutes before game time and announce Official start time. Both teams confirm Start time.

12. Please use common sense in regards to Pitching Restrictions – we will be watching!

13. Winners of each Pool will advance to championship round. Pool winners and opponents are already decided. There is no seeding for playoffs, and a coin flip will determine Home and Away prior to all playoff games. The remaining teams will play one consolation game. 14. Tournament Director and Staff will have final say on all disputes. Please find Tournament Staff at one of the Scout Towers. All score protests must be handled before Umpires leave field after final out. No uniform protests allowed

15. Diamond Game Balls(4) are provided but you MUST have your team chase foul balls.

16. CAGES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE THAT DON’T WEAR CLEATS. No soft toss into any fences!!! No hitting drills on grass!!! On deck hitters on dirt areas only!

17. Mariner & Padre Clubhouse & Parking Areas and Maintenance Equipment Areas are OFF LIMITS!!! We are not allowed inside the Team “Bubble” Areas!

18. Tie breaker system: (1) Overall Win/Loss record (2) head to head result(if only 2 teams are tied) (3) Total least runs allowed (4) Total run differential (5) coin flip

MORE RULES ON BACK SIDE

20. NO WALK-UP SONGS/ANNOUNCERS. BOOM BOXES/SPEAKERS are not allowed during the games and are highly discouraged and definitely can not play vulgar music. DO NOT PLAY MUSIC DURING THE GAMES. The games are timed and walk-up songs take valuable time away from the game. If you have music during warm-ups and or cages, it better not offend, impede or bother another team or game. You may be asked to turn off the music.

21. The Front Gates will be unlocked no later than 45 minutes prior to the first game. If the city allows us to open them 1 hour prior we will.

22. Rules Protests- Please do not argue or stop a game for judgement calls by the umpires. (Balls, Strikes, out, safe calls). If you feel the umpire has misinterpreted a rule, you can protest the game prior to the next pitch. Our protest rules are as follows: Protests will be heard and ruled on by the tournament committee. Tell the Umpire that you are protesting the play/game and umpire will get a hold of tournament staff. You also should call 623-512-3432 immediately. The team protesting must have their Manager make cash payment of $100 at the time of the protest to the tournament staff. If the protest is ruled in the protesting team’s favor the $100 will be refunded. The ruling made by the Tournament committee will be final. Protests must be filed and ruled on before the next pitch if during game, or before umpires leave field if after a game. No spectator, team official or parent may try to protest any ruling/infraction – it MUST be by Team Field Manager on the field to the Umpire Crew. The Umpire Crew will notify Tournament Staff.
