Standings & Results Through Three Races Have Been Updated
Each Team Principal and Executive Chairman selected a song for the 2 Mile race playlist (hey, it's just a 2 mile, it's not THAT long a race).
When the Big Ten cancelled the cross country season in what would culminate with the cancellation of the NCAA Cross Country Championship the question on everyone's mind was - now what? Five months ago when the outdoor season was lost, organized practice was also lost. Now it's different. So the answer is simple - it's time to get better. How many athletes are here ONLY for practice? None, right? Competitive natures crave competitive situations. It's in that spirit that we launch the 2020 Not Big Ten Covid Championship.
Instead of a typical 4-5 cross country races this will be a season championship, in the style of the F1 World Championship. In F1 there are 10 teams, of 2 drivers each that compete in a series of grand prix races throughout the season. The top ten drivers in each race score points for themselves. The driver with the most points at the end of the season is world champion. Each team (or constructor) also earns the points of its respective drivers, and the team with the most points at the end of the season wins the Constructor's Trophy.
Our season will consist of a series of grand prix races - some XC, some track, ALL epic ranging in distance from 1500m to 10k. There will be four Constructors comprised of seven athletes each.
