REGISTRATION

Dear presenters and participants,

The Committee of the Joint Conference (the 37^th International Conference on English Teaching and Learning & the 22^nd International Conference and Workshop on TESL & Applied Linguistics) has been closely watching the COVID-19 situation. We are facing an increased risk brought forth by the novel coronavirus, which has impacted and will continue to impact, various aspects of life in most regions of the world. For the time being, judging from the COVID-19 situation in Taiwan, and its rapid spread in other countries, the committee has regretfully made a decision to shift the conference format to a virtual one with the same goal of providing a channel for academic exchanges. The following explains how the conference will be operated, and, thereby, a number of measures are to be taken.

(1) Since both conferences are conducted annually and have a rigorous process of reviewing research proposals in addition to the preparatory routines to follow, we are not considering cancellation of this joint conference, and, instead, the conference committee decide that all conference programs including invited speeches, paper presentations, workshops, and poster presentations will be delivered online.

(2) The invited speeches and workshops will be video-taped and uploaded to our conference G-Drive. (Link will be provided via email.)

(3) For all presenters, we urge that video-taped presentations be uploaded no later than May 17 via a link provided in an individual email to be given as soon as we have solved some potential technical problems and finalized a way to do so. All these video-taped presentations will be given online.

(4) All accepted full papers will be published (either online or CD) with an ISBN. A hard copy of this conference proceedings will be available for paid presenters and participants.

(5) Certification of participation and presentation will be issued via email when the required duties are fulfilled.

All the measures we are taking are because it is necessary to reduce the risk of exposing the conference “attendees” to the virus and avoid its further spread to families and friends. We will continue to give updated information of the conference programs and the webpage for uploading video-taped presentations, ppt slides and posters.

The success of the conference relies a lot on the collaboration and coordination both from the keynote speakers, presenters, attendees, and conference committee and admin team. It has always been our priority and goal to build a dynamic, accessible, informative, and educative platform for academic exchanges via our conference regardless virtually or physically. Your understanding and support truly mean much to us.
