Spring Competition

The Spring Junior Chess Competition was held on the 22nd September at Mount Lawley Primary School and attracted of field of 73 participants. The under 10 division was composed of 41 players, the under 13 division had 26 players and the under 18 division attracted 6 players. Having an insufficient number of players to run a full 7 round event, the under 18s were merged with the under 13s.

The under 10 division was won by Anthony Nguyen with a perfect score of 7/7. There was a 2-way tie for second place between Daniel Levin and Yonal De Vas, both scoring 5.5/7. After countback was taken into consideration, Daniel was awarded the second place trophy with Yonal receiving third.

Jamie Laubbacher won the combined under 13/18 Division with a score of 6.5/7 and was awarded the first place under 18 trophy. Christopher Manasseh was awarded the second under 18 trophy after achieving outright second with a score of 6/7. There was a 3-way tie for third between Alex Pimenov, Harry Geronimo and Alistair Berry. Alex was awarded first under 13, Harry second under 13 and Alistair received the third place under 18 prize. Pranav Borude was outright 6th overall with a score of 4.5/7 and was awarded the 3rd place under 13 trophy.
