My gift to you - a video created by my son, Keanu Pinner, about our island home. Many of these places are gone forever, due to the eruptions in 2018.

I'm a Fightin' Texas Aggie, Washingtonian, and all-around mountain girl!!! I spent the first part of my career life working as an Environmental Consultant for LANL tackling projects in groundwater, soil and pore gas monitoring/ sampling. I eventually came to terms with the realization that teaching was ultimately where I wanted to pursue my passion for science. After receiving my Masters from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR I began my teaching career in a little town called Forks in Washington State...if you are thinking to yourself, "isn't that Twilight country?"...the answer is yes! I worked as an educator there for three years teaching grades 9-12th. Eventually, my son came along and well...we couldn't imagine a better place to raise him than back in Los Alamos!! I have now taught an additional 3 years at Los Alamos Middle School and have made it my mission to immerse my students in tackling real-world issues to be more effective local and global citizens.
