Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman

Book 2 of Scythe. Rowan and Citra have moved in opposite directions in hopes of correcting corruption among the Scythes. But Citra, now Scythe Anastasia, is also being threatened by someone. Greyson Tolliver wants to help but gets sucked in deeper and deeper into the intrigue of the Scythe/Thunderhead. This moves to a shocking conclusion. YA. Heavy duty thinking by the Thunderhead.

A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny (#2)

CC dePoitiers is not liked by anyone. Not her husband, her daughter, or anyone in Three Pines. So Gamache has quite a case when she is electorcuted at the Boxing Day curling match. Meanwhile in Montreal, a vagrant is found strangled. But why? This is a great stand alone mystery with lots of complications. Adult.

The Disappeared by C J Box

Wow I love Joe Pickett. Now I have to wait another year--aaaaaagh. This mystery involves a missing British socialite, a new governor who orders Joe to find her, a missing game warden, and something weird being burned in the sawmill furnace. Sheridan figures prominantly as a wrangler at a very exclusive Ranch where the British woman stayed. And there's a ginormous wind farm. One of the twists near the end floored me. But was so very obvious. This was great. Adult.

Upside Down in the Middle of Nowhere by Julie T Lamana

Armani just want to have her 10th birthday party with her loving family. But then there's Katrina, the Hurricane. This may be a bit scary for young readers as she describes the horror of the hurricane and then flooding after the levy breaks. Several people are lost and the depth of the responsibility Armani has to take on is deeply disturbing. I recommend this for very mature readers. 5th+ Well written.

Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi

A close one to Rick Riordan. Female heroine who works with and against Hindu deities and their minions. Humorous and full of action. Excellent. Might do well with a reread.

Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes

Book 6 and the end. Jonas and Lucia with baby Lyssa are finding her place. Magnus is dead as far as Cleo knows. Amara seems to be taking stock of her decisions and returns to Kraeshia. The elements have power that may end up burning up the entire world. Yes, this is set up for some dramatic action and twists. Great ending. YA for romance and violence.

Coffin Scarcely Used by Colin Watson

ugh. I had to stop and just skim at about halfway through. Marketed as a cozy mystery, but really just slow, over written, and not complicated enough to be interesting. Adult.
