Introduction

It was formulated by Sir Isaac Newton.

The equation is as follows

dT/dt ∝ (T-T_r)

where T is temperature of body at time t

T_r is room temperature

The equation can be further simplified and integrated and written as

T(t) = T_e + (T_o - T_e)e^(-kt)

where T(t) is temperature of the body at time t

T_e is room temperature

and T_o is temperature of body at time=0

We can see that the Newton's Law of cooling is also a first order differential equation.

The equation can be solved by separation of variables and then integration(As it is a first order separable differential equation)
